Dow Bridge Brewery

Thanks for viewing our website to find out about the award winning range of cask and bottled beers we have enjoyed producing at the Dow Bridge Brewery for the last 13 years.

We specialise in hand crafted traditional ale using only English whole hops, malted barley, yeast and water, without the use of adjuncts and additives.

About the Brewery

The Dow Bridge Brewery was established in 2001 and is owned and run by Head Brewer, Russell Webb. The Brewery is situated in the Leicestershire village of Catthorpe, a short distance from the Roman road known as Watling Street (A5). The brewery takes it's name from the local bridge on the A5 that spans the Avon and is one of the three river crossings that gave the name to the nearby Roman settlement of Tripontium.

Head of Steam, Lilbourne

We are delighted to announce the re-instating of a pub in the village of Lilbourne, Northants. The 'Head of Steam' has been developed from what was originally the family home of Richard and Wendy Hoult in a pre 17th century property, now tastefully converted to become a traditional Public House serving a range of Dow Bridge Brewery ales alongside regularly changing guest ales.

With an excellent selection of real ales and fine wines in place, Richard now has intentions to introduce a  basic food menu in the near future, focusing on the traditional pub food such as Ploughmans and filled rolls.

At the recent presentation and registration meeting for the North Northants Pool League, the Dow Bridge Brewery Knock-out cup is presented by Russell to the Captain of The Elizabethan Pool Team Ben Adkins. The NNPL currently has two divisions  and full details can be found at
